Central Oregon has something for every camper!  Tent camping at the foot of Mount Hood, RV camping beside the mighty Columbia River, free camping at Oregon's own Painted Desert near the John Day Fossil Beds or lakeside camping in the forested lava beds near Lava Beds National Monument.  Central Oregon was made for outdoor enthusiasts.  Among the many available activities throughout this pristine area are camping, hiking, snow skiing, water skiing, par surfing, sail boarding, hunting, fishing, fossil hunting, rock climbing, mountain climbing, white water rafting, golfing, well... pretty much anything you can think of.  And you can RV camp or tent camp right at the location that best suites your chosen outdoor fun.

The Columbia River geographically separates central Oregon from Washington on the northern edge of this area.  To the west is the Cascade mountain range, to the east are millions of acres of rolling hills and home to enormous grain ranches.  The city of Bend and its surrounding lava fields marks the southern end of the central Oregon area.

Central Oregon offers many dozens of RV and tent campgrounds.  Opportunities to camp range from the idyllic State Of Oregon campgrounds, privately owned campgrounds and US Forest Service campgrounds.

Bring your fishing pole, golf clubs, telescope, a camera, or just your favorite lawn chair and be prepared to be amazed by the natural beauty and diversity offered near RV camping and tent camping sites throughout central Oregon.

The authors of the Free Guide To Northwest Camping do not accept payment from any agency or private campground owners.  In this way we ensure that every description in this free guide is unbiased.  Covered are campgrounds owned and operated by state and federal agencies, private RV campgrounds, RV parks, family campgrounds, and camping sites for both tent camping and all types of RV camping.  While free campgrounds are listed and described, pay per night campgrounds far outnumber the free sites.
