Griffin Park

Campground Description:  Griffin Park is owned and operated by Josephine County.  Like All Josephine County parks, Griffin Park is financially supported by day use and camping fees only.  Also like all Josephine County parks, this park is well kept and offers beautiful trees, shrubs and manicured landscaping.  In the park's day use area is a shelter that can accommodate up to 60 people.  The shelter has a fireplace, electricity, a sink and a large BBQ.  Other activities available at Griffin Park include a nature trail, volleyball, horseshoes, swimming and boating.  Griffin Park is closed from mid October through early April.  Complete services and shopping are available in Grants Pass.

Water:  At 15 RV campsites and distributed throughout the tent camping area

Waste Water Dump Station:  Yes, for registered campers

Directions:  From Interstate 5 (I-5) northbound or southbound, take exit 55 and follow to Highway 199.  Follow Highway 199 southwest for 9.5 miles to Riverbanks Road.  At Riverbanks Road, turn right (north).  Follow Riverbanks Road for 6.6 miles to Griffin Road.  At Griffin Road turn right (north) and follow for 0.5 miles to the park entrance.

Fishing:  Yes.  Griffin Park is situated on the shores of the Rouge River.  Fish for salmon and steelhead as well as trout.

Astronomy Opportunities:  Good.  There is an open fields that offer clear views of the sky to the northwest of the restroom building. There is also adequate space on the river bank unless the river is running high. The exact location for computerized telescopes (at the field near the restrooms) is 42 27' 46" N, 123 29' 17" W
