Fishhook Park

Campground Description:  Operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers, this pretty 46 acre park is fully paved with rolling lawns, trees, swimming beaches and an adjacent day use area with BBQs and shelters.  Fishhook Park is well maintained and operated.  The park offers restroom facilities with flush toilets and hot showers.  A boat launch is available at the day use area.  Hiking trails are available.  The Northern boarder of Fishhook Park is the Snake river's Sacajawea Lake, formed by the pooling of the Snake river behind Ice Harbor Dam.    Fishhook Park is located 19 miles Southeast of Pasco, WA, on State Route 124.  Open April 1 until October.

Directions:  Highway 395/12 Southbound from the Tri-Cities - Drive South from the Tri-Cities on US Highway 12 for 3 miles.  Immediately after crossing the Snake River, turn left onto State Route 124.  Follow State Route 124 for 16 miles to milepost 116.  Turn left at the sign for Fishhook Park at Fishhook Park Road.  Follow Fishhook Park Road for approximately 5 miles to the park entrance.

Fishing:  A Boat launch is adjacent to the park at the day use area.  World class Columbia River fishing (seasonal) for salmon, steelhead, sturgeon, trout and small mouth bass.  Small mouth bass are an easy catch from the shore.  A one mile hike along the railroad tracks gives access to a fishing pond.

Astronomy Opportunities:  Very Good.  Little light pollution.  Elevation is approximately 650 feet.  Views are limited by the park's abundance of trees.  The exact location for computerized telescopes is 46.31653° North, 118.76710° West.

Nearby Golfing:  Numerous Par 3 to championship courses in the Tri-Cities, 24 miles Northwest.

Please note that these photos were taken during early February when foliage was not in bloom.  In the Spring, Summer and Fall months, this park is very attractive.
